Capital Radio's strategic marketing director, Nikki Mendonca, is
quitting to take charge of new business and marketing at OMD Europe.
As the director of marketing, Mendonca will define and promote the OMD
brand in 26 countries across Europe.
All new-business directors within OMD Europe will report to Mendonca and
she will devise a strategic new-business plan for the agency.
OMD Europe's chief executive, Colin Gottlieb, said: "Nikki will help
shape and communicate what OMD Europe is and what it stands for. She has
agency and plc experience plus a reputation as a powerful strategic
planner."
The news comes just two weeks after Gottlieb recruited Sheila Byfield
from rival MindShare to take up the new post of director of research and
insight.
Mendonca and Byfield join a top management team reporting into Gottlieb,
which also includes the managing director of OMD International, Kate
Stephenson, and OMD Europe's head of client operations, Ian Lomas.
During a three-year stint at Capital Radio, where she reported directly
to the chief executive, David Mansfield, Mendonca set up a 16-strong
strategic planning department to handle media strategy, research and
brand strategy.
Mendonca said: "I now feel it's time to move on to something bigger and
Colin gave me an offer I just couldn't refuse."
