Olympic sailing teams hook up with Alfred McAlpine

LONDON - The UK's Olympic and Paralympics sailing teams have renewed their relationship with building and business services support giant Alfred McAlpine as part of a sponsorship deal to run until the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

The deal, which gives Alfred McAlpine official silver level sponsor status, is part of a commercial sponsorship strategy hammered out by the sailing teams' managing body, the Royal Yachting Association, and its sponsorship consultancy Capitalize.

The firm previously sponsored the Olympic and Paralympics sailing teams in their preparation for the Athens Games last year.

Through the new deal, Alfred McAlpine will be able to promote its service through the team and work with the RYA regarding employee development, team building, corporate hospitality and incentivisation schemes.

Craig McGilvray, managing director of Alfred McAlpine business services, the division taking the lead on sponsorship activity, said: "We are proud to be part of the most successful Olympic sailing team in history and we look forward to working with them over the next Olympic cycle."

RYA Team GBR manager Stephen Park said: "We look forward to working closely with them over the next four years."

Alfred McAlpine joins a sponsorship line-up that also includes Gul International, which was unveiled last month as the teams' technology clothing partner.
