Chalk has been freelancing for the past two years. She was previously head of integrated production at Bartle Bogle Hegarty and has also worked as a producer at Fallon and Channel 4.
She will head Grey’s 100-strong inhouse production unit, a joint venture with sister WPP company Hogarth Worldwide.
Chalk has been asked to embed production at the core of the creative process, as well as create bespoke production models for clients.
Leo Rayman, chief executive of Grey, said: "We’re living in a DIY culture. The world has stopped talking and started doing, and we’re the same. By weaving production more tightly into our business, we want to talk less and make more, making our work faster, fresher and more seamless."
