Oliver, the in-house specialist agency, has appointed Richard Stainer as chief executive, global clients.

He will report directly to Simon Martin, founder and chief executive of Oliver and its parent company, Inside Ideas Group, which sold a majority stake to You & Mr Jones in January.

Stainer joins from consulting group Odgers Berndtson, where he was partner and global head of media.

From 2014 to 2017, Stainer was chief executive of TBWA\London. He left following the Omnicom network's acquisition of a stake in Lucky Generals.

Before that, he spent nine years at Bartle Bogle Hegarty in both London and New York, becoming managing director at the New York office in 2011, then client service director at BBH London the following year. Earlier in his career, Stainer spent five years at DDB UK.

Martin said: "There's increased appetite for Oliver's way of working and Richard will be instrumental in rolling out our ‘better, cheaper, faster’ ideology on a global level as part of the agency’s ambitious growth strategy."

Stainer added: "Oliver’s model is such a compelling draw to come back into the thick of the creative sector – it’s committed to agility and totally future-fit for the age of real-time marketing."

The appointment follows that of Rodrigo Sobral, former executive creative director at R/GA London, as global chief creative officer.
