The Oldie launches on digital radio

The Oldie, a magazine for over-50s, has launched on digital radio station OneWord, the channel co-owned by Channel 4 and UBC Media.

Producers of The Oldie Radio Hour, which hit the Sky, Freeview, DAB and internet airwaves at 11am on Saturday, have promised to bring the best of the literary and satirical magazine to the airwaves.

Future shows are set to include guest interviews with Leslie Phillips, Felix Dennis and Gene Wilder, and will include features from the magazine such as Not Many Dead, Rant and Modern Life. The show, produced in Marylebone, will be repeated at 7pm on Saturday and at the same times on Sunday.

Producer Paul Kent said: "The magazine has so much content that is perfect for radio that it's been harder than we anticipated to choose what to include. But after a lot of discussion we are confident that the format is the right one for the magazine and for Oneword."
