OgilvyOne adds vice-chairman role for Sutherland

LONDON - Rory Sutherland, an executive creative director at OgilvyOne UK, has been given the additional role of vice-chairman at the agency, one of many internal promotions.

In what it called the final stage of its plan to ensure seamless integration between online and offline thinking, OgilvyOne announced that Sutherland's fellow executive creative directors Cordell Burke and Lino Ribolla will run the creative department.

The day-to-day management of the 45-strong creative department will be now be shared by Colin Nimick, who is promoted from creative group head to creative director for relationship marketing, and Neal Lankaster, creative director of design.

Paul O'Donnell, chairman of OgilvyOne UK, said the moves were "intended to lock in the next generation of leadership for the agency".

He said: "This new role will allow Rory to spend more time with our clients, to ensure that the creative voice is prominent in all of our thinking, and to continue representing the agency in public forums and on the IPA Council."

The agency is also seeking to appoint an additional creative director with an interactive background to complete the line-up.

Additional management promotions have seen Mike Dodds and Guy Lambert, previously management partners for client services, become joint managing directors.

Sam Williams-Thomas and Annette King, previously client team leaders, have taken on the roles of client service directors, joining the managing partner group. Williams-Thomas will head the account management function, while King will focus on marketing and business development.

Meanwhile, Fraser Watson, a director at OgilvyOne for the past nine years, has taken on the new role of managing partner for customer experience and relationship management.

Finance director James Barnes-Austin has become a managing partner, replacing Mike Iles, who will now concentrate on his role as Ogilvy group chief financial officer in the UK.

The agency has also recently made a number of major additions to its line-up, appointing: Danny Allen from Npower to head the analytics department; Richard Barker from Modem Media to head the production function; and Giles Rhys Jones from Draft as deputy head of OgilvyInteractive.
