Media regulator Ofcom has appointed Peter Davies, former-head of strategy for nations and regions at the BBC, to become its new director of radio and multimedia.
The role will give Davies responsibility for developing Ofcom鈥檚 overall strategy relating to radio and multimedia activities.
Davies has held the post of head of market intelligence in recent months and was previously head of Ofcom鈥檚 radio review board, a post he will continue to hold.
The second phase of the review, which is expected to be unveiled later in 2005, will examine the future role of digital radio and the regulation of analogue radio.
Tim Suter, Ofcom鈥檚 partner for content and standards, said: 鈥淭his new role reflects our recognition of the dynamic nature of radio and I am delighted that Peter has agreed to take it on, bringing with him a wealth of relevant experience across analogue and digital radio and media technology.鈥
