Ofcom to outline the future for radio

The regulation of radio programming, the restrictions attached to format conditions and the existing ownership rules are all to be opened up to consultation by the industry today as Ofcom publishes its report into the future of radio.

The regulator will today (Tuesday) address stakeholders with ideas of what it thinks radio will look like in 10 years time and the changes it plans to make.

The report will also assess the competition from technologies such as podcasting and the struggle to attract advertisers in light of the popularity of the internet.

The document will be open to consultation for 10 weeks.
