
Ofcom received 47 complaints about Saturday’s instalment (23 October) of 'The X Factor' which saw the young rapper Cher Lloyd sing 'Hard Knock Life' and Mary Byrne sing 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me'.
Saturday's show had a peak audience of 13.7 million across ITV1 and ITV1 HD, a 53% share of the TV watching audience and an average audience of 12 million over the two-and-a-quarter-hour-long show.
Ofcom also dismissed 15 complaints about the previous week's Saturday instalment of 'The X Factor' on 16 September, Ofcom had already dismissed a further 91 complaints about the same show last Tuesday.
This series of 'The X Factor' has been involved with a number of controversies, including the and the leaking of both the names of the final 12 contestants and the reintroduction of singers as wildcards.
A spokesman for Ofcom said the complaints against 'The X Factor' had been not been upheld and had been closed down. The show is not being investigated.
Ofcom publishes an alphabetical list of programmes that have received more than 10 complaints once a week. All complaints are assessed against the Broadcasting Code.
