The newspaper still has a lot of catching up to do to, down 16.1% on last year's figure of 405,516.
The other clear winner in the month of political upheaval was the Daily Star Sunday. The red-top continued its market-busting ascent from 348,188 copies in April to 357,130 last month, up 2.57%.
It was only slightly down 0.72 on the year-on-year figure of 348,188.
Other Sunday successes include the Sunday Mirror, up 2.14% to 1,148,107, but down 5.92% on last year, and The Sunday Telegraph, up marginally by 0.52% to 512,819 copies, but still down 17.18% year on year.
All other Sunday national titles were caught snoozing as they lost their competitive advantage, including the Independent On Sunday, which was unable to follow its daily sibling's return to growth.
Instead, in its second full month under new owner Alexander Lebedev, the Sindy dipped 2.36% to 164,188 copies.
New International’s News of the World also took a hit, shifting 164,188 copies, compared to 168,151 copies in April, equating to a drop of 1.62% both month on month and year on year.
It's sister paper the Sunday Times also took a hit, falling 1.53% from 1,135,077 copies in April to 1,117,749 copies last month. Year on year, the paper which famously claims to be 'the Sunday papers', slipped 6.42%,
The Sunday Express did slightly better than its rival the Mail On Sunday, only dropping 1.06% during last month from 574,323 copies to 568,247 copies. It has a lot to do to recover the loss of 16.1% year on year, when it was selling 619,182 copies.
The Mail On Sunday dropped 3.27% from 1,983,283 to 1,918,512 copies this month, and 7.11% year-on-year.
Staying almost static, The People dropped 0.69% during the month to deliver 526,438 copies in May in comparison with its 530,117 figure in April. This was down 9.74% on last May's figure of 583,258.
North of the border, the Sunday Herald took the least collateral damage to its circulation, down 0.22% to 42,275 copies, while Scotland On Sunday fell 1.11% to 57,057 and the Sunday Post, which was down 1.78% to 328,129 last month.
