Nuts TV

The formula for a Nuts TV channel was already there in the triumphant magazine format. So cue light bulb above TV suit's head - "let's replicate it on the small screen". And they have.

Appearing on the Freeview platform and with an average 0.025 rating, I'd be fairly confident Nuts TV is never going to challenge the established male-skewing TV channels.

But since its launch in September last year, Nuts TV has delivered four hours a night of live TV featuring girls, guests and gadgets - just like the magazine - to more than a million men.

It has to be said that a large element of the programming is not particularly funny, with men being laughed at by girls who actually don't get the joke.

The competition seems stiff in the male TV market at the moment. ITV4, Virgin 1, Dave (which can't possibly be only for men, as me and half the females in my office love it), Movies4Men and the established Men & Motors, Bravo and sports channels are all vying for attention.

Perhaps the popularity of these men's channels depends on whether you read the corresponding magazine.

If you read Nuts the mag, then you shouldn't have any problem getting on with Nuts the TV channel.

However, if you're a GQ type of guy, then I've got a feeling Nuts TV might make you feel fairly superior, especially if you checked out the section I watched that pitched a blonde against a brunette in a Guess The Pie Filling contest.
