NTL Telewest subscribers will be able to watch Channel 4 content for up to seven days after it is first broadcast, starting from today.
Programming will include Channel 4 favourites 'Shameless', 'Deal or No Deal', 'Queer as Folk' and 'Jamie's School Dinners'.
Rod Henwood, new business director at Channel 4, said: "Channel 4 is the most innovative and distinctive brand in UK television -- and we want to extend this reputation by taking a pioneering role in VOD. This agreement with NTL Telewest underlines our ambitions. It is a major step towards making Channel 4 content available on demand across multiple platforms and lays the foundation for the launch of our bespoke on demand service later this year."
Ernie Cormier, chief commercial officer at NTL Telewest, said: "Cable is delivering the best digital TV experience available in the UK. With our on-demand service customers can watch more than 500 movies, thousands of music videos, hundreds of classic series as well as catching up on popular TV shows they have missed. Today's announcement is a mega deal for our customers, who now have access to even more great content from Channel 4."
The cable firm reported an increase in revenue during the second quarter of 2006, mainly as a result of its acquisition of rival Telewest in October 2005.
Total revenue for the group across the quarter was £884.3m, up £272.9m compared with the first quarter of 2006 and up £401.8m year-on-year, providing a healthy backdrop to NTL's merger with Virgin Mobile, which was completed in June.
