Not On The High Street aids last-minute shoppers with Gift-O-Matic service

Not On The High Street has landed two Twitter-powered vending machines in London today (21 December), to help people secure their last-minute Christmas gifts.

Situated within the capital’s Waterloo and Paddington stations, the Gift-O-Matic machines release a present when commuters tweet @notonthehighstreet with their location and a hashtag that corresponds to a particular personality type, such as #Foodie, #PetLover or #Gardener.

The machines will then dispense a complimentary gift based on each individual request. They are stocked with products from 5,000 small businesses featured on the brand’s website, including grow your own coffee plants, glittery bow ties and woollen mittens.

Complete with brightly coloured Not On The High Street wrapping and oversized blue bow ribbons, the machines are easy to spot within the bustling train stations.

The stunt is designed to help last-minute shoppers on what has been coined 'Man Dash Monday', by offering thoughtful and creative gifts free from any signs of ‘panic buy’.

Sally Bendelow, creative product director at Not On The High Street said: "We are always looking for ways to surprise and delight our customers and this Christmas is no different. We’re introducing the Gift-O-Matic machines to juxtapose the unique and handmade against a fairly mundane and everyday part of life, the traditional vending machine.

"Whoever you’re looking to buy for – mum, dad, kids, friends, the milkman, the cat - you’ll find something they’ll love within the machine’s range of personalised, unique and wonderfully inspired gifts."

Not On The High Street earlier this month, as part of its first-ever Colour Saturday campaign, which positioned itself as an alternative to Black Friday.
