The insurance company, which is the title sponsor of governing body UK Athletics, has set up the London Sportspark to boost support for Team GB and to promote this weekend's Norwich Union London Grand Prix athletics meeting.
The Sportspark event is being backed by the London 2012 Olympic Bid Team and will be jointly promoted with media partners Capital FM and the Evening Standard.
Trafalgar Square will be turned into a sporting arena on Friday, enabling the public to take part in athletic events including the shot put, javelin and pole-vaulting. On Saturday, top UK athletes will be present to offer sporting advice and tips.
The Sportspark initiative is being run in partnership with the Greater London Authority as part of a programme of 20 events - the Trafalgar Square Summer 2004 programme - aimed at revitalising interest in the pedestrianised area.
The London Sportspark is the flagship event of a nationwide tour by Norwich Union this summer designed to encourage people to pursue a more active lifestyle.
