Sturgess, who was part of the launch team for GCap-owned new music station Xfm, will form part of the weekday team of presenters. She is joined by Cole, a TV presenter and stand-up comedian, and Martin, a former club DJ from Leeds and Yorkshire Radio host.
NME Radio will launch on Sky channel 0184, Virgin Media channel 975 and nme.com/radio. The IPC-owned station will also be available on FM at various times across the UK, via a series of local temporary broadcasts, starting in London on 6 October. The company also plans to roll the station out through DAB.
IPC plans to sell NME Radio as part of integrated offering, allowing brands to advertise across all NME platforms.
The station will compete with Bauer Radio's Kerrang! radio station, which currently reaches 1.2 million listeners a week.
IPC and its partner in the project DX Media, whose managing director Sammy Jacob founded Xfm, have made a number of key hires since plans for the station were announced in December, including former Xfm staff member Joanne Burlando as head of operations and Katie Torrie s music and production manager.
