Disguised as a typical London busker, Rodgers pitched up on the South Bank. Hurried passers-by on their way to work were unaware of who was performing, donating just £12.30 to the Chic musician.

Rodgers then removed his disguise and performed hits such as Le Freak and Good Times. The guitarist was in the capital following a performance at the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on Sunday (21 June).

The stunt was designed to celebrate the relaunch of Sky Arts as a single 'superchannel' alongside Sky Arts On Demand.

Philip Edgar Jones, director of Sky Arts, said: "We're convinced that Sky Arts offers something for everyone, and we have tried our best with the relaunch to bring people closer to the stuff they love.

"We're delighted to bring that ethos to life with this impromptu performance: Nile is one of music's living legends and we're thrilled that he's helped capture the spirit of Sky Arts in such a fun and entertaining way."
