Nike unveils heir to Run London

Nike is replacing its annual Run London event with Nike+ Supersonic, a multimillion-pound promotional initiative combining running with live music.

The sports firm is inviting Londoners to compete for tickets to the event at a series of four weekly 100m speed trials. The fastest 1000 runners will win the opportunity to take part in the Nike+ Supersonic finale, a 1km race, followed by a one-off concert on 17 November.

Qualifiers will receive a Nike-branded 'race pack' comprising an iPod Nano, a Nike+ Sport Kit and a pair of limited-edition Nike Zoom Jasari trainers.

The Nike+ Supersonic initiative, which has been devised by AKQA, will be supported by a branded web portal allowing consumers to register for the time trials and monitor their progress on a race leader board.
