News International (NI) is to give its new-media activities a more

central role. The restructure will see its News Network division play a

stronger role in co-ordinating online ventures.

The decision follows comments by News Network staff last month that there

was a lack of clarity around its role.

Three new divisions have also been set up: NI Connect will co-ordinate

customer relationship marketing; The News Media Group will control online

and print versions of The Sun and News Of The World, FootballFC.com and

Page3.com; and Times Media Group will house The Times and Sunday Times

print and online versions.
