The company, which publishes more than 200 titles including 17 daily newspapers such as The Herald in Glasgow, Bradford's Telegraph & Argus and The Argus in Brighton, has completed the first phase of the revamp of its entire digital portfolio, improving site navigation and branding.
The classified sections have been overhauled with an upgraded search facility, new layout and a business and restaurant directory, text-enabled for geo-location advertising.
Simon Sarahs, head of commercial development at Newsquest Digital Media, said it has also launched a mobile version for every website with "top opportunities", including sponsorship slots for advertisers, as well as live travel updates, news and sport.
Apart from Newsquest's national agency sales team, which has a specialist digital team, digital ads on Newquest sites are primarily sold by the existing print sales teams. These will now focus on multimedia selling, including mobile.
Ad positions on the sites will now be managed locally and Newsquest will monitor post-impression activity for local clients to prove the role display advertising can play in terms of driving awareness.
In addition, recruitment opportunities have been bolstered with the addition of promotional slots on the websites' e-mail newsletters.
The Newsquest dating channel has been completely revamped as it attempts to move away from traditional telephone responses to in-paper promotions.
