Newspaper commercial leader Gary Savage has died

Gary Savage, the former advertisement director at News Group Newspapers, has died from leukaemia, aged 53.

Savage enjoyed a long and successful career as a commercial leader in the national press, spending 20 years at News Group, before becoming head of advertising at Metro, and then ad controller at the Sunday Express.  

He passed away within weeks of being diagnosed and is survived by his wife and three daughters.

His funeral will be held at Grantham Crematorium next Friday (11 June).
