News of the World brings back the Fabulous Girls

The News of the World is launching an ad campaign today to promote its Fabulous magazine.

Created by WCRS&Co, the ad sees the return of the Fabulous Girls sunbathing by a swimming pool in Marbella. One of the girls is featured as dreary and dull, before applying some nail varnish which transforms her into a lively beauty, to the amazement of her friend.

Katy Hopkins was art director, Steve Hawthorne the copywriter, while the creative director was Ross Neil. Media buying was handled by Mindshare.

Rachel Richardson, editor of Fabulous magazine, said: "We had a great response to the 'Fabulous Girls' when they appeared in our TV ad in January and I'm delighted they're back to spread the word about this amazing deal."

Readers will only be given free samples of the nail varnish  if they collect three of four tokens printed in the magazine from this Sunday (19 June), and take them along to any participating Tesco Extra or Tesco supermarket from 3 to 11 July.

The giveaway is part of the paper's 'Fabulous Summer' campaign, which kicked off earlier this month. It includes the hunt for a model to be the Face of Fabulous and appear on the cover of the magazine.

The campaign launched on Facebook and was created for the magazine by social media agency Jam.
