David Lamb, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO’s board account director on its
Sainsbury’s business, is joining J. Walter Thompson to run its global De
Beers account.
Lamb joined AMV from JWT less than two years ago to run its key
Sainsbury’s account alongside the deputy chairman, Adrian Vickers.
Lamb, 34, rejoins JWT in the new year and will be based in London,
reporting directly to Chris Jones, JWT’s co-president, who previously
managed the work globally.
Jones said: ‘Increasingly, we are regarding our worldwide client
relationships as operating units in their own right. Therefore, we are
not just looking for the best account management talent but the best
management talent in general. David is one of the nicest and cleverest
people in advertising and his talents deserve a world stage.’
Lamb said: ‘I had a fantastic time at AMV but now I’m going for a career
looking across more than one market. There are huge cultural differences
around the world and there is a real chance to develop the ‘shadows’
idea and make it even more successful.’
He started his career in 1984 as a graduate trainee at JWT London. In
1986, he moved to JWT Toronto, where he worked as an account supervisor
on Lever. He returned to JWT London in 1987, eventually becoming
director-in-charge on the entire Kellogg’s business. He was one of
±±¾©Èü³µpk10’s ‘Faces to Watch’ in 1989.
Lamb’s appointment comes two months after JWT landed De Beers’ US
account, worth dollars 47 million (±±¾©Èü³µpk10, 8 September). The win
consolidated the gem and diamond giant’s global account with the
agency.,
