News International to terminate bulk sales

LONDON - News International will not be distributing any of its news titles through 'bulk' deals and has said this will have a knock-on effect on its ABC figures.

News International to terminate bulk sales

Circulation for The Times is predicted to fall from 571,506 to around 523,648 once bulk sales are removed. The decision will effect The Times and Sunday Times newspapers and come in to effect in January.

News International is expected to start negotiating with existing partners to continue distribution deals at a higher market rate. This could see the news group signing up airlines and other travel operators as corporate customers.

The Guardian removed its bulk distributions in August. Bulk sales cover copies newspapers which are sold for a nominal fee. These copies are typically distributed to airlines and hotels.
