The boosted NBD, expected to total 2.1 million records after the merger, is set for launch later this summer. The Yell Data brand name will survive to appear on NBD promotional materials.
Richard Lloyd, director of B2B marketing at Experian, confirmed that Thomson Directories, a competitor to Yell, would remain a supplier to the NBD file.
At present, the key components of the NBD are Experian's own data and Companies House records, as well as the Thomson Directories data.
Lloyd said a key factor in the acquisition was gaining access to the experience of Yell Data's 40 staff, as well as to new clients including the DTI and TV Licensing.
"We've experienced a good chunk of organic growth with B2B and wanted a step change in terms of our approach to the market," Lloyd said. "Yell provided that. There's only one organisation bigger than Yell and that wasn't on the market."
The deal allows Yell to concentrate on its business of printed directories.
