Dubbed NewsCore, the service will enable staff at media outlets including Sky News, The Times, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal to access all stories run by the corporation.

A News Corp insider has confirmed the network is entering the final stages of development, although no official launch date has yet been set.

NewsCore will work by scanning electronic story feeds, satellite feeds and website content produced by the group, making the information available to News Corporation news desks across the globe.

The operation will have its headquarters in New York, with the UK operation based at BSkyB's offices in Osterley.
