News Corp buys US TV stations

News Corporation looks set to expand its US television business with the purchase of Chris-Craft Industries for $3.7 billion (£2.4 billion).

News Corp is believed to have outbid MTV owner Viacom and the CBS network to take control of Chris-Craft, adding 10 TV stations to the 22 already owned by its Fox Entertainment group.

The deal will give the Murdoch-owned company a boost in major markets including New York and Los Angeles.
