The investment in jobs search engine has been made through its Fox Interactive Media business together with venture capital firm Foundation Capital.
According to a statement made by News Corp, the investment has been made to continue the media giant's search for greater involvement in online advertising streams.
Silicon Valley-based Simply Hired is setting out to become the Google of the job search market, connecting people to tens of thousands of jobs. Unlike a traditional jobsite, Simply Hired just searches for the jobs as would Google with any other piece of content.
A News corporation spokeswoman said: "Classified revenue is important to News Corp. We're looking for ways to participate in those revenue streams as they move online."
The investment follows News Corp's $580m acquisition last July of community website My Space.
Other News Corps online assets include Australian online publisher News Interactive and videogame and entertainment network , which this month launches a UK sales operation.
Just last month, Rupert Murdoch, News Corp chief executive described the internet as a "creative, destructive" force, that will bring a "golden age of information".
Delivering the annual lecture at The Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers in London he added that the internet was the "prime media channel for information, entertainment, business and social contact".
