News Corp appoints Jeremy Schwartz to new role of marketing chief

LONDON - News International has appointed Jeremy Schwartz, chief executive of food business Conival, to the newly-created role of chief marketing officer.

According to News International Schwartz will be responsible for 'all elements of News International's sales and marketing operation'.

Schwartz's apppointment coincides with the departure of The Sun and News of the World head of marketing Roland Agambar, who is leaving News International  to join Associated Newspapers as chief marketing officer. He will report to managing director Guy Zitter.

Agambar is being replaced by News Group Newspapers head of brand marketing Allen McCaskill.

Prior to joining Conival, Schwartz previously held marketing director roles with L'Oreal and Sainsbury's and was director of innovation at Coca-Cola across Europe.

James Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corp Europe and Asia, said: "Our commitment to marketing is stronger than ever and a higher percentage of readers in the UK continue to turn to News International titles.

"Across our business there is a huge opportunity to innovate and I am delighted that Jeremy will bring an exceptional record of success to News International."
