Bartle Bogle Hegarty launches its first work for Golden Wonder this

weekend with a TV campaign for Wotsits.

The commercial will support a three-month football-sticker promotion -

devised by the below-the-line agency, Logistix - on Golden Wonder’s

Wotsits snack brand.

From September, random packets of Wotsits will contain free stickers

featuring a star footballer. A collector’s album can be redeemed by

buying a Wotsits multi-pack.

The commercial targets eight- to 11-year-olds and will run for three

weeks. Its first appearance will be on GMTV, in the break of Gargoyles -

a children’s cartoon set in New York.

The film, called ‘transfer’, features voiceovers by Alan Ball, who

recently resigned as the Manchester City manager, and Alex Ferguson, the

current Manchester United manager. The ad shows two young lads, Alan and

Alex, imitating football managers as they swap football stickers in the

school changing room.

Alan, sporting a City tracksuit, is determined to trade his stickers of

Paul Gascoigne and Dennis Bergkamp for Alex’s Ryan Giggs. Alex, clad in

a United tracksuit, finally agrees, and, as Alan gloats, Alex reveals

with a smirk that he has another three Giggs stickers stashed away.

The ad was created by the copywriter, David Bryant and the art director,

Mark Hurst. The spot was directed by Marek Losey and Terrence O’Connor

through Trademark Productions.

New brand work for the Golden Wonder Crisps line is due to break in

October. BBH and its media dependant, Motive, snatched the pounds 7

million full-service account from Ogilvy and Mather in May (±±¾©Èü³µpk10, 31
