NEW YORK - Nigella Lawson, otherwise known as the domestic goddess, has been hired by the New York Times to write a new fortnightly column.

New York Times signs Nigella Lawson

Lawson's column in the paper's Dining In/Dining Out section will be called "At My Table" and will feature simple-to-prepare recipes, menus and tips for entertaining in a fun and informal manner.

The first edition of "At My Table" will feature Mediterranean recipes inspired by a recent trip to Tuscany.

Lawson is no stranger to journalism. Her first writing job was in 1985 when she wrote a restaurant guide in The Spectator. The following year, she became literary editor of The Sunday Times, where she met her late husband John Diamond.

Since then she has written several cookery books and she is food editor of UK Vogue.

The column comes on the back of Lawson's rising US popularity. Lawson has a new TV series called 'Forever Summer with Nigella', set to launch in November on Style and E! Entertainment Television.

Her book 'Nigella Bites' is also set to be published in the US by Hyperion Books.
