LONDON (Brand Republic) - The New York Times is developing a late-night television news programme to run on US public service television next year.
The show, which has the working title of National Edition, is slated to run at around 11pm on Public Broadcasting System affiliate stations. PBS is the US equivalent of the BBC.
The programme is to be produced by Liberty Media Group-owned MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, the company behind evening programme NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, which also airs on PBS.
The NY Times has an established television unit which produces documentary programming for US TV networks and cable stations. It is also developing a science programme for cable.
