Cadbury Schweppes won the deal to become the official drink in New York schools after a battle against Coke and PepsiCo.
Part of the five-year deal includes $60m (拢37.7m) to promote the city of New York to tourists. It will also see Snapple providing the city with funds to invest in school playgrounds, sports and physical activity programmes.
Daniel Doctoroff, deputy mayor of New York City, said: "This partnership fulfils my promise to seek city-wide marketing relationships with private companies to deliver additional revenue and resources for the city."
The decision to appoint Snapple comes following the move by New York City to make healthier beverages available in schools.
Todd Stitzer, CEO of Cadbury Schweppes, said: "We are committed to ensuring our products are consumed sensibly as part of a healthy lifestyle by children and adults alike. Being able to encourage children to drink natural juices and water at school, while also supporting greater participation in school sport and physical exercise is something to which we are very committed."
According to the Cadbury Schweppes website, consumers drank more than 150m gallons of Snapple in 2000 -- more than half a gallon for every person in the US.
