New role created as ITV takes on CITV ad sales

GMTV sales has created the new role of business manager, kids, to manage ad sales around its children's TV portfolio.

Dave Murphy, previously CITV channel business manager, will take up the position from 1 January. His appointment follows the decision in October by ITV to take ad sales for kids channel CITV back in-house.

Murphy is expected to increase opportunities for advertisers around children's programmes. He said: "I am looking to build upon multi-platform opportunities and move the options beyond spot advertising."

At the time of the announcement about the return of CITV's ad sales to ITV, Media Week understood that the three sales executives who worked on the CITV account at GMTV were to move directly over to ITV and continue their work there.

But with Murphy's appointment and Nicole Ducasse's move to Five as a sales executive, only Tim Roberts is expected to move to ITV in January.

Gary Digby, managing director of ITV Customer Relations, said: "We have more than enough people in sales to take on CITV. Now we have all the deal information, we have to make sure we sell it correctly and pick up on all the relevant details."
