She will join IPC's men's division Ignite next week, moving from IPC Southbank, where she has been publisher of Hair and Wedding magazines since January 2008.

In her new role, she will be responsible for guiding NME's multimedia expansion.

The 57-year-old title is still widely regarded as the leading voice on bands, gigs and all things rock'n'roll in the UK and now has a footprint in TV, radio and mobile.

Hill replaces Emily Hutchings, who moved to become publisher of IPC's celebrity and fashion weekly Now.

Nicola Woods, who has been acting publisher at NME, returns to her previous role as head of PR at IPC Ignite.

NME continues to be edited by Conor McNicholas and Hill will report to publishing director Paul Cheal.

In the last six months of 2008, NME had a print circulation of 48,500 while its 12 year old website attracted an average of 3.5m monthly unique users according to ABCe.

Meanwhile at Uncut, associate publisher James Thrower will move to the same role at IPC's casual gaming brand Mousebreaker, but also remains associate publisher of Loaded.
