NEW MEDIA: Lancashire goes online to recruit more gay police

Lancashire Constabulary is to try to attract more gays and lesbians

into the force with a recruitment ad campaign on Queercompany.com and in

the gay press.

Jane Williams, media manager at Jupiter Advertising, which created the

work, said Lancashire was renowned among police forces for its proactive

recruitment of minority groups.

Jupiter considered outcast, rainbownetwork and gay.com before choosing

Queercompany. Ads will also run in Diva, Gay Times, the Pink Paper and

Man magazine.

The launch coincides with the release of government targets stating that

10% of all police officers should be gay or lesbian by 2009.
