The Covent Garden venue is currently being managed by joint administrators Shay Bannon and Tony Nygate of BDO Stoy Hayward.

According to its diary co-ordinator Irina Belonina, business is still running as usual, but staff are awaiting news from the administrators as to the future of the space. "We are still taking bookings and honouring existing ones," she said.

The Connaught Rooms underwent a £1m refurbishment project in September 2006, kitting out all of its 29 rooms with the latest event technology.

Parent company The Real Hotel Group operates more than 50 hotels in the UK and Europe, including the Purple Hotels and Stop Inns brands.
