Archant, the recently renamed regional publishing group, has appointed a new chief executive as part of a rolling programme of change which includes exploring new initiatives in its flagship title the Hampstead & Highgate Express.
John Fry has been appointed as chief executive replacing Peter Strong, who is to become non-executive chairman of the group's magazine business, with effect from June.
Fry joins Archant, previously ECNG, from Misys International Banking Systems, having also served as non-executive chairman of the Portsmouth &
Sunderland Newspapers group. He will be charged with looking at new ventures and developing opportunities in existing titles.
Meanwhile, Archant has launched two new supplements in its flagship paid-for weekly, the 21,633 circulation Hampstead & Highgate Express, to attract new readers and explore the potential of taking regional advertisers beyond the local area.
The group's monthly Norfolk & North Suffolk Property
Magazine is to be distributed with the Ham & High Express, allowing estate agents in East Anglia to reach potential customers in the affluent north London area generating further revenue from existing advertisers. If the plan is successful, Archant will be looking at similar opportunities for cross-promotion across its other regional titles.
Archant's Norfolk property field sales manager, Christopher Sefton, said: "It's the first time we've teamed up with another Archant publication on such a venture."
