Publicis, which owns Starcom Group and ZenithOptimedia Group, won new business worth £5.6bn in 2005, according to fourth quarter results released late yesterday.
The group enjoyed a rise in the last quarter of 2005 of 13.4%, with organic growth of 8.6%. Revenues were up £335m or 5.2% in Europe and the network experienced an 11.7%, £338m revenue rise in North America.
Maurice Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe, said the growth was due to efforts in new media and healthcare communications.
New business wins during 2005 include the £2bn north American media account for General Motors, gained by Starcom, and the £100m L'Oreal Europe media brief won by Zenith Optimedia.
Lévy said: "Our operating margin should beat our target and will be above the 15.1% booked on an IFRS basis in 2004. Prospects for 2006 are favorable, as new accounts won in 2005 are ramped up, and will drive part of growth expected in 2006. Firmer markets in France and Germany offer additional support for this solid growth, while major sporting events including the Football World Cup and, to a lesser extent the Winter Olympics, will provide added impetus."
