Allen will be responsible for identifying the best opportunities for increasing Netrank's market share, as well as expanding its UK and Europe operations.
Allen started her career as one of the founding members of the Lycos commercial team in the UK, where she worked as international sales manager. She later worked on a variety of new-media projects, including the launch of Amazon Marketplace, before taking up roles at Conde Nast and latterly magazine publisher Future.
The appointment comes on the back of Netrank's continued success in the natural search industry and plans for significant growth next few years. Since November 2000, Netrank has grown to include more than 40 blue-chip companies as clients.
Allen said: "Netrank occupies a unique position within the market -- delivering best-of-breed technology solutions to our clients. Our ethical approach combined with our outstanding research and development teams puts us at the cutting edge of the natural search industry."
John Straw, chief executive of Netrank, said: "It is a very exciting time for us and Lucy's recent appointment is going to really help us excel in this buoyant yet challenging market."
