Nestle hands $375m media-buying account to Universal McCann

NEW YORK - Universal McCann has strengthened its grip on the Nestle media-buying account, winning the consolidated $375m (拢260m) US account after a pitch against Omnicom group-owned PHD.

Universal McCann, part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, already handled some of Nestle's US business, but has now added Purina pet foods, acquired by Nestle in December 2001. PHD was the incumbent on the Purina account. Nestle decided to review the account after the Purina acquisition.

Universal McCann now handles some $1bn in Nestle business worldwide. The media-buying shop scored a big win in the US earlier this year when it won Sony Corporation's $600m consolidated account after a pitch against MediaVest and OMD.
