Nestlé drops Rowntree name

The company has confirmed that its Nestlé Rowntree confectionery division will now trade under the name Nestlé Confectionery (UK). Nestlé acquired Rowntree, which is based in York, 20 years ago.

Nestlé said it had changed the name of the operation to better reflect its status as a major exporter and importer in the company's global confectionery structure.

However, the Rowntree name will remain on all its sugar confectionery brands, which include Fruit Pastilles and Jelly Tots.
