The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers' (EAGE) 2013 conference party on Wednesday 12 June will occupy all three main spaces at the museum: the Earth Galleries, the Darwin Centre and the Central Hall.
It marks the first time all three spaces have been used simultaneously for a single event.
The museum is also working with production house Event Concept and entertainment agency Prelude to stage the event.
The Recipe has created a canapé and bowl food menu, which will be served across the three event areas. This will be augmented by speciality dining experiences that will be spread throughout the museum.
These will include a barbecue area and an urban picnic in the Darwin Centre; a salmon tasting bar in the Earth Galleries; and paella and Indian street food stalls in the Central Hall.
Later in the evening, guests will be able to visit the liquid nitrogen ice cream bar in the Central Hall, and the installation in Gallery 20 offering four different flavours of popcorn.
The Recipe will also be installing a special EAGE pop-up in the existing restaurant space in Gallery 30. Here guests will be offered a glass of chilled Prosecco and served a trio of seafood composed of beetroot cured salmon, lobster and papaya salad and marinated king prawns.
Joanne Wood, events manager at the Natural History Museum, said: "We’ve been planning for this extra special event for nearly two years, and we are really looking forward to the evening. Close collaboration with our accredited suppliers The Recipe, Event Concept and Prelude has been key to the smooth planning, ensuring not only that the event is logistically sound, but also that we are delivering exactly what the client wants as a venue team, and not as individuals."
