The National Magazine Company has radically reorganised its

publishing structure, grouping its high-profile luxury titles into one

division under the control of the Cosmopolitan publisher, Liz

Kershaw.

The move brings Harpers & Queen, Esquire and Country Living together

under the new Affluent Magazine Group and gives Kershaw the title of

group publishing director. The restructure eliminates individual

publishing posts for the three titles, and will result in the Esquire

publisher, Kevin Adams, being made redundant.

The fallout from the reorganisation will see publishing moves among most

of NatMags’ divisions. Jan Adcock leaves her post at Good Housekeeping

Having a Baby to take the vacant publishing chair at Cosmopolitan. She

will start the new role on her return from maternity leave in

September.

The publishers of both Harpers and Country Living have been found new

roles within NatMags. Harpers’ chief Austyn Hallworth returns to his old

post at House Beautiful, filling the vacancy left by Jamie Bill’s move

to Conde Nast last week. Former Country Living publisher Chris Hughes

has been appointed the publisher of the Good Housekeeping group.

The merger of Affluent’s publishing interests is intended to promote

media buying across the new group’s high-end titles. It could also

signal future brand extensions for the three magazines.
