NatMags poaches Burda's launches editor for She

LONDON - The National Magazine Company has poached Sian Rees, Hubert Burda's editor-in-chief of new projects, to be editor of She.

Rees is contracted to Hubert Burda until the end of July and is still working for the company, according to the German publisher's UK managing director Luke Patten.

A replacement will not be sought, but Patten said this did not mean the company was giving up on its launch programme.

NatMags gave She a major redesign and editorial rethink last October that turned it into a general interest title for 30-something women. It brought in Matthew Line as editor last June to lead the transformation but he left in April this year.

The magazine's circulation has increased by 5.7% from 148,262 in the first half of 2005 to 156,674 in the second half of 2005.

Rees said she was impressed by NatMags' plans to develop She and was looking forward to taking it on to the next stage.

Rees launched Living & Gardens in February, which was Hubert Burda's follow-up to its debut UK title Full House.

She has also worked for IPC, Gruner & Jahr and Bauer as well as freelancing extensively. She has written four books on interiors and has made regular appearances on TV interiors programmes.

Hubert Burda bought TV Hits and Real publisher Essential Publishing in April.

The publisher appointed Essential managing director Patten as its managing director to fill the gap left by Simon Hesling's departure in February.
