NatMags plans new title to rival Conde Nast's Easy Living

LONDON - The National Magazine Company is to combat the launch of Conde Nast's Easy Living women's lifestyle title with a rival magazine.

The £15m launch of Easy Living next March is a threat to NatMags' Good Housekeeping. In response, NatMags has hired Matthew Line, former editor of Homes & Gardens, to evaluate two magazine concepts.

A NatMags spokeswoman confirmed that Line would be forwarding recommendations before Christmas and that a magazine could be ready by spring 2005.

Conde Nast managing director Nicholas Coleridge said: "I doubt that something thrown together at the last minute would do well in this competitive marketplace."
