- The National Magazine Company has announced the name of its new lifestyle magazine for parents: M magazine.

The first issue, aimed at parents of children aged between one and ten years will go on sale from Monday 4 May. It will carry a cover price of £2.20 and will have a print run of at least 150,000.

M will go monthly from February 1999. However, prior to that, the first issue will be followed by an August issue timed to coincide with children returning to school after the summer break and a third issue will be published in November.

M is aiming to be a 'modern, stylish magazine' covering fashion, homes, health and beauty, travel and leisure and shopping from the point of view of a young family.

The magazine is aimed at ABC1 women, traditionally a group that is hard to target. To ensure the widest possible reach, a launch campaign is being mounted which will use direct mail as well as national and trade press advertising. An agency, however, has yet to be appointed.
