NatMags has hired Amanda Pitt from IPC Southbank as Good
Housekeeping group ad director and reorganised its sales department.
For Pitt, who replaces Glenda Marchant - who has moved to Forward
Publishing as commercial director - it marks a return to Nat Mags.
She formerly worked on Company and left in 1996 to join IPC tx. After a
brief spell at Redwood, she rejoined IPC last year as head of
advertorials and sponsorship for IPC tx and Connect. In February, she
was appointed ad director across Woman & Home, Essentials and Family
Circle.
In a reversal of NatMags' restructure last autumn, which created
commercial director roles reporting directly to deputy managing director
Duncan Edwards, the commercial directors now report to their respective
group publishing directors.
The move has been prompted by Edwards' inability to find a senior figure
to head sales and marketing, who would have managed the commercial
directors. This left too many people reporting into Edwards.
In further changes to the structure, the ad directors of NatMags'
flagship titles Good Housekeeping and Cosmopolitan will no longer report
to their commercial directors, but to the publishing directors.
As a result, Pitt will report to Good Housekeeping group publishing
director Chris Hughes, and Caroline Nagel will report to Cosmopolitan
group publishing director Jan Adcock.
The moves are said to have been brought about because the sales
portfolios managed by women's home and lifestyle commercial director
Jude Secombe and young women's commercial director Sara Stephenson were
too large.
Advertising revenues on Good Housekeeping and on Cosmopolitan - which
has been affected by the launch of Glamour - are rumoured to have
suffered.
