Mansfield: 34 years in the business |
Terry Mansfield is to step down as president and chief executive of the National Magazine Company at the end of this year and take on an ambassadorial role for parent company Hearst.
After 34 years at the magazine group, and at the age of 65, Mansfield is hanging up his hat.
As a consultant within the Hearst Corporation, Mansfield will now look at developing acquisition opportunities and talent within the group, as well as boosting its UK presence.
He said: "I've been in the business 100 years and it's about time I had a new assignment. It is in very good hands with Duncan [Edwards, NatMags managing director]."
In recent years, Mansfield has been looking after the burgeoning contract division as well as overseeing central sales.
Both of these functions will now report to Edwards.
Melanie Leathers will head the central sales function, but Edwards said he will be assessing the ad structure before making a new appointment.
He said: "Terry is a legend in magazine publishing and it will be great to continue to have access to his ideas, knowledge and address book."
