Nationwide reconsiders review after Peter Gandolfi's departure

LONDON - Nationwide is assessing its marketing team after its head of brand strategy, Peter Gandolfi, announcing he is quitting the building society. According to reports, Gandolfi is keen to set up a sports sponsorship consultancy.

Nationwide reconsiders review after Peter Gandolfi's departure

Two weeks ago the building society called a review of its £10m ad account, after incumbent Leagas Delaney resigned. But that review is now understood to have been called off and the brand is in talks with Leagas Delaney to repair the relationship.

Gandolfi's departure follows the decision in July to appoint a board-level sales and marketing director in place of the out-going John Sutherland. In the interim, Nationwide's executive director of retail, Stuart Bernau, will cover marketing at board level, while divisional director for mortgage and savings, Matthew Carter, will head up sponsorship and brand functions.

Gandolfi had worked at Nationwide for 28 years, heading up its football sponsorships deals from 1999 and overseeing the launch of its bank manager ad campaigns.
