Nationwide poised to create digital roster

Nationwide Building Society has contacted up to four agencies in a review of its digital agency arrangements, with a view to appointing its first digital roster.

It currently uses online advertising agency Tangozebra for its online creative, but with the digital medium becoming more important for financial services brands, Nationwide is seeking online planning specialists.

The company is handling the pitch direct rather than using an intermediary. Its media buying, which is handled by Mediaedge:cia, is understood to be unaffected by the process.

Nationwide spends ú1m a year online, according to Nielsen Media Research, and uses direct agency cchm:ping and ad agency Leagas Delaney for non-digital creative work. Its current ad campaign, designed to show how it is different from banks, features comedy actor Mark Benton.

Nationwide denied that it was reviewing its agency arrangements.
